DISTRICT 2
PLAYOFF QUALIFYING The
following number of teams will advance to the District 2 AA and AAA playoffs from the Wyoming Valley Conference and Lackawanna League. AAAA
and A classifications remain as an
open-format tourney. Wyoming Valley Conference 3A Boys (10 teams) = 5
advance to districts 2A Boys (5 teams) = 3
advance to districts 3A Girls (9 teams) = 5
advance to districts 2A Girls (5 teams) = 3
advance to districts · Starting Points Teams
start out with points based on their overall conference schedule (5 points
for playing a 4A team, 4 for a 3A, 3 for a 2A, and 2 for a 1A). · Win Points Win a
game, get 10 points win another game, get 10 more points, etc. · Bonus Points Champions
of Division 2 and3 get five extra points.
The top 3A team in Division 1 gets 3 points (or splits them if there
is a tie). · Final Rating Total
everything up, divide by the number of games played. The District 2 website has a great link to
the current basketball standings (http://www.piaad2.org) - its updated
daily. Lackawanna League 3A Boys (7 teams) = 3
advance to districts 2A Boys (11 teams) = 5
advance to districts 3A Girls (6 teams) = 3
advance to districts 2A Girls (10 teams) = 5
advance to districts Automatic
Byes into District Tourney In 3A, the Division 1 top team gets
in. (If either Western Wayne or Valley
View wins Division 2, then they get in also).
That leaves the other 3A teams chasing the remaining 2 (or possibly
only 1) spots. In 2A, the Division 2 #1 and #2
teams both get in along with the top team from Division 3. The other teams are competing for the
remaining 2 spots. Playoff
