Eastern York 55 Lancaster Catholic 53

 

The Golden Knights of Eastern came out on fire building an 8-0 lead in the first few minutes and extending it to 23-7 at the end of the first quarter. Eastern hit 4 three's in the first quarter and there two stars, Austin Tillotson had 9pts on 3 three balls and Andrew Nicholas had 2 three balls and 8pts in the quarter.

 

When Nicholas hit a duce to start the second quarter, Eastern led 25-7 and the rout was on. NO WAIT, Tyler Purvis got hot for Catholic and poured in 12 second quarter points and the Crusaders cut the lead t0 10-points, 37-27 at the half.

 

They kept edging closer in the third pulling to two points on a shot by Phil Wenger with 4:37 left in the quarter to make it 39-37. Nicholas then hit another three to put Eastern back up 42-37. But Catholic kept coming and a duece by Paul Senkowski at the 3:07 mark gave LC their first lead of the game at 45-44. The quarter would end with Catholic ahead 48-45 even though they missed three foul shots in the final minute. But an upset was now a clear possibility.

 

The fourth quarter saw Eastern back in the lead at 51-50 on a three-ball by Ryky Smith. Wenger than scored for LC to give them the lead back at 52-51, but he then missed two foul shots and Ross Hall made 1-of-2 for a 53-51 lead. Davin Zimmerman tied it for Eastern at 5 3 with 2:50 left. Neither team did much after that until LC failed to get the ball inbounds and lost it to Eastern with just over 30 seconds left. They held for a final shot and Nate Bollinger scored on a drive down the middle for a 55-53 lead with 2.7 seconds left in the game. Catholic threw a long pass to Will Schlosser who put up a shot from about 40 feet, that hit the side of the rim and fell off at the buzzer and the upset bid was over and Eastern had their district title.

 

Eastern hit 10 three's in the game and Purvis had five for Catholic.
